The NZXT H440 has taken some of its design elements from the larger H630 case, and incorporated them into a mid-tower chassis. With that being said, the insides of the NZXT H440 are very different from the H630. NZXT's use of metal instead of plastic to cover the top and front of the frame makes this case stand out in a great way. It is also nice to see very little plastic used on the exterior of a chassis with such a price point. There is the fact that the NZXT H440 comes with four 140 mm fans.
Things like the PSU cover, the LED system, the new bay configuration and drive trays, the ease of using thumbscrews for most removable bits, the fact that the thumbscrews in the doors and the HDD bays all stay in the component so they don't get lost, adding the Grid fan hub; I mean the list goes on and on. As hard as we try, there is just nothing to degrade NZXT for, or harass them about how I would have done things differently. They just hit this nail so square on the head, and with such style and adaptability, that there is no way that most of our readers aren't already in another tab looking to get this chassis (or possibly the red on black version) to build your system in.
All things considered, NZXT has won most of the reviews over. The fact of the matter is that this was the next evolution in what a gaming chassis should be, and it raised the bar to a whole other plateau that many other companies found it tough to compete with.
NZXT has a real winner on their hands with the H440 mid-tower chassis. It is the case every new buyer wants, and it is the perfect solution for the enthusiast who just doesn't have the time to perform the mods, but has plenty of gear to pack into a sleek and simplistic design that will make anyone who sees it jealous of their setup. As the award below shows, the next move is on everyone else, as NZXT moves up a huge step and everyone else in the industry wonders what just hit them.
And while all the above sounds great, there are a few things that are not perfect with this NZXT H440 case. The biggest issue and a potential deal-breaker for some buyers is the lack of an external drive bay. NZXT may be called either ingenious or foolish for this.
There is also the somewhat inefficient use of space in the front as more hard drive trays would have fit. Again, this is no major deal-breaker, the H440 could easily hold more without sacrificing any of its cooling options.
The third issue is the limited amount of space behind the motherboard tray, especially in combination with the panel's lining of sound-dampening material.
It was hard finding criticism for The NZXT H440 in the reviews. The mid-tower case is a popular choice among gamers and with reason. This computer case helped establish many of the trends that we see in PC cases today.
Overall, it’s still a very good pick since the price is considerably lower than at release.
