The NZXT Noctis 450 has a lot to like about it.
The steel construction and bright painted finish seem nice, however the attached power supply cover is cumbersome and cannot be removed. The LED lighting in the cover, on the other hand, looks really beautiful via the side window, but if we had to choose between a quick build and a bit of illumination, well, that's not such an easy option.
We absolutely adore the aesthetics on this case by NZXT. Sharp accents add depth, and the matt finish is ultra-sleek. This isn't just an outward feature; within, there's a helpful chamber that doubles as a PSU compartment and cable management concealment. A handy 8-channel PWM hub aids in wire management and may even be used in conjunction with NZXT's CAM software to provide complete control over the cooling system. The cooling performance is improved by having four cooling fans pre-installed in crucial places.
NZXT did an excellent job with the NOCTIS 450. It's a great case, and for the price, it's a good bargain for what you receive and the quality that comes with it. Thank you for listening to us, NZXT. With this one, you make an old Case Modder extremely pleased, and thanks for all the wire ties.
Ultimately, the NZXT Noctis 450 is a nice mid-tower chassis that doesn't go wild with its modifications and is a good contender for a rig builder who is taking timid steps to 'jazz up' his or her desktop system.
The Noctis 450 is an excellent case in a high-end pricing range. If the NZXT H440's design is too simple for you, the Noctis 450 may be one of your best options.
Typically, this is where we would list a product's flaws. However the flaws found here is some minor issues, that in now way is deal breakers. The only real issue worth mentioning is that a standard 90-degree SATA connection will not work for a 7.5mm SSD in the existing drive sled.
The 3.5-inch drive bays are another issue with the N450. Although Fractal Design has demonstrated that it is feasible to neatly tuck drive bays away, the N450 requires you to remove the bays in order to fully utilize the case.
Finally, some of the reviews suggested that the holes in the power supply should be positioned closer to the disk tray to accommodate it. They would also like to see rubber grommets on all motherboard tray cuts.
The NZXT Noctis 450 begins as a quiet case with fantastic features and good cooling, but after several hours of testing, it transforms into a heat monster. The thoughtful smart fan control design should perform better with a large liquid cooling system than with our somewhat undersized CPU heat sink.
