Depends on your situation. The Sony X85J is good for gaming in HDR, it has great contrast, color and blck uniformity, and for the price, it is a good buy. The sound aswell is good for the price, however the bass is lacking.
If you are on a tight budget, the Sony X85J is a solid choice.
Overall the X90J is very similiar to the X85J.
The X85J has a flicker free background and a very good contrast. However the Sony X90J has a full local dimming feature that will improve its contrast, and possibly reduce blooming in dark scenes.
One important difference though, is that Sony X85J does not have a color management system.
The panels that the Sony Bravia XR X80J and Sony X85J uses are different. But the big difference in these models are that the Sony x85J is better suited for dark rooms, because of its great contrast. Whereas the Sony Bravia XR X80J has better viewer angles and therefore are better in wide seeting areas.
The refresh rate on the Sony X85J is 120hz while the Sony Bravia XR X80J is 60hz. This makes for a sharper picture.
